Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT) is a not-for-profit, registered charity (#271) and youth development organization focused on entrepreneurship. BYBT was started in 1996 by a group of social entrepreneurs to improve the social and economic conditions of young, underserved persons between the ages of 18-35 years old. Our successful business strategy has been providing an integrated package of business mentoring, start-up loans and grants and other developmental support services to this target group. BYBT is a founding member of the YBI Network and the Barbados host of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) initiative. This initiative is aimed at inspiring people to embrace entrepreneurship. Barbados Youth Business Trust promotes Youth Entrepreneurship Development by providing persons with the necessaries to start up a business. We offer: • Business startup capital up to BDS $25,000 as a lender of last resort • Business support grants up to $1000- Go and See, Feasibility Study And Educational Grants • Business mentors on a one-on-one, group , specialist and company • Integrated package – Training, Personal Development, Networking, Marketing & Promotion, Social intervention / Counselling, Advocacy / Lobbying, Community engagement, Outreach The Trust is a centre of excellence within the YBI network, a regional resource and was a lead program for the four years IDB/MIF regional project to develop young entrepreneurs. As the lead program, BYBT has assisted Youth Business Programs in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Belize, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Dominica to start their operations by training managers, business mentors and young entrepreneurs. Additionally, BYBT is an approved Centre of Assessment under the Technical and Vocational Education Training Board and can therefore assess and issue certification of the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ), which is a CARICOM approved occupational standards.
